Be part of the team that helps protect the integrity of our elections and serves voters across Barry County. Election Inspectors play a vital role in our democracy, and we invite you to join us for one of our upcoming training sessions.
Who Can Serve as an Election Inspector?
To serve as an Election Inspector in Michigan, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be a registered voter in Michigan (not required for 16- and 17-year-olds serving as Election Inspectors)
- Be able to read and write English
- Not be a challenger, candidate, member of a candidate’s immediate family, or a member of the local election commission for the election being conducted
No previous election experience is required.

Already Certified?
Current Election Inspectors with certifications expiring in 2026 may complete an online recertification course instead of attending an in-person training session.
