The dump will close early if all bins are full. For those residents upset about this, we apologize for any inconvenience. But this is out of the township’s hands. Legally we can only have so many yards per open, Transfer Station. Which is 40 yards. Because of the regulations from the government. So when the township purchased dumpster bins we purchased 2 20 yard bins (previously we only were using 2 15 yard bins provided by Plane Dumpsters). WE ARE MAXED OUT BY LAW! So, once those bins are full we must shut down. Previous years experience has shown that once summer is over, much of the time the transfer station would barely fill one 15 yard bin, hence the reduction to only 1 Saturday per month. Also, Plane Dumpsters is only able to provide an attendant once per month other than the designated summer months. Plane Dumpsters empties the bins prior to (usually the Monday or Tuesday following the Saturday it is open) each Saturday the dump is open. We are grateful to Plane Dumpsters for their accommodation in operating our transfer station as they have been our only option to continue offering this service to our residents.
By purchasing dump bins and a recycle bin it not only allowed us to have the maximum capacity, it was also a significant savings. The township currently pays $180 monthly per dumpster bin to empty them. The township also pays $180 for the recycle bin plus $80/ton for transport to the recycle center. During the summer months this payment amount is double.
