Notice is hereby given that a General Election will be held in the County of Barry, State of Michigan for the purpose of voting for candidates and proposals stated in this publication. Election will be held at: Orangeville Twp/Orangeville Twp. Hall/7350 Lindsey Road, Plainwell 49080 

NOTICE OF EARLY VOTING FOR THE NOVEMBER 5, 2024 GENERAL ELECTION. LOCATION OF EARLY VOTING; 7350 LINDSEY RD., PLAINWELL—DATES AND TIMES OF EARLY VOTING ARE: OCTOBER 26,2024— NOVEMBER 3, 2024 POLLS WILL BE OPEN FROM 9:00 A.M.—5:00 PM 

THE FOLLOWING OFFICES WILL BE ON THE BALLOT: 

Presidential: President and Vice President
Congressional: United States Senator; Representative in Congress 2nd District
Legislative: Representative in State Legislature 43rd District
State Boards (2 positions): State Board of Education, Regent University of Michigan, Trustee Michigan State University, Governor Wayne State University
County: Prosecuting Attorney; Sheriff; Clerk; Treasurer; Register of Deeds; Drain Commissioner; County
Commissioner 6th District
Township: Supervisor; Clerk; Treasurer; Trustee (2 positions)
Judicial: Justice Supreme Court, Judge Court of Appeals 3rd District, Judge Probate Court, Judge District Court 56B District
Local School District: Board Member 

Please take notice that the following proposals will appear on the ballot:
County Proposal:
Millage Renewal Proposition for Funding Barry County Transit
Shall Barry County renew the previously authorized millage of 0.2367 mill per year, ($0.2357 per $1,000 of taxable value) upon all taxable real and personal property in the County for a period of (10) years, 2025 through 2034, both inclusive, subject to reduction as provided by law?

Local School District Proposal (Plainwell Schools):
Plainwell Community Schools Bond Proposal
Shall Plainwell Community Schools, Allegan, Kalamazoo and Barry Counties, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Thirty-Nine Million Eight Hundred Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($39,835,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, in one or more series, for the purpose of: erecting, furnishing, and equipping a new preschool building and additions to school buildings; remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping school buildings, including for school security; and erecting, equipping, furnishing, preparing, developing, and improving playgrounds, athletic fields and facilities, and sites?

Absentee Ballots Available

Absentee Ballots for General Election on November 5, 2024 are now available! Absentee ballots are being mailed out the week of Sept. 30th. Anyone wanting an absentee ballot can apply online at www.michigan.gov/vote or stop in the clerk’s office Mon-Wed-Fri 9:30-1:30 with picture I.D. and pick one up.

Keep in mind, absentee ballots can be voted/tabulated during early voting or on election day as well as be returned by mail, drop box or at the clerk’s office.

Notice of Registration

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, BARRY COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN:

REGISTRATION:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of Orangeville Township who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Orangeville Township Clerk, the Office of the County Clerk, a Secretary of State branch office or other designated state agency; or can use the Online Voter Registration System at www.Michigan.gov/vote.

Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is MONDAY, October 21, 2024. (MCL 168.497) After October 21, 2024, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency up to and including through the day of election (MCL 168.492) at the Orangeville Township Clerk’s office located at 7350 Lindsey Rd., Plainwell, MI 49080 at the following times:

Mon. – Wed. – Friday | 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Saturday Nov. 2nd | 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Tuesday Nov. 5th | 7:00 am – 8:00 pm

Notice of Public Accuracy Testing

NOTICE OF PUBLIC ACCURACY TEST GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 5, 2024 ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, BARRY COUNTY, MICHIGAN

PUBLIC ACCURACY TESTING:
The Public Accuracy Test is conducted to demonstrate that the program and the computer that will be used to tabulate the results of the election have been prepared in accordance with the law. Public Accuracy Testing will take place at Orangeville Township Hall located at 7350 Lindsey Rd., Plainwell, Michigan 49080 on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 @ 10 am.

BARRY COUNTY NOTICE On JULY 2, 2024, BARRY COUNTY HAS FILED ITS NOTICE OF INTENT TO PREPARE THE MATERIALS MANAGEMENT PLAN AND BECOME THE COUNTY APPROVAL AGENCY

as required per Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act,1994 PA 451, as amended.

BARRY COUNTY intends to complete the MMP development as a SINGLE County plan. Please note that all materials management planning committee meetings are open to the public and notices of these meetings shall be found at the following: www.barrycounty.org. In addition, each municipality will receive notice and will have the meeting notices available as well.
